Why does this newsletter exist?

I have long fostered within me, a naïve yet sincere desire to write—birthed, no doubt, from my child-like excitement for books and the people who craft them. But this desire has lived only in my imagination, never exposed to the real world. Perhaps this was necessary. After all, if the flame isn’t kindled, it can’t start the fire. If rushed, it will die out.

Two years ago when the pandemic struck, I finally found the courage to begin. I created a blog and began experimenting with writing. My biggest fear was that I would find it tedious; that I was chasing a dream that was never truly mine. But to my great relief, I discovered that I enjoy writing. It is empowering and deeply satisfying. It helps me discover myself, and at the same time, shapes me into a new person.

This year, I want to take it further. I want to get good at writing. And the only way to do that is to write a lot. So here’s the goal: Write for 30 minutes each day, for the whole year (I guesstimate that will result in 1 article per month, but I’m probably wrong). I’m excited to see where this takes me.
